Support Braces
Maternity time is a condition that brings its own special garment needs! During pregnancy, some ladies need extra support not only for back pain, but also abdominal and vulva pain. I carry the Embrace Ultimate Support, Embrace Moderate Support, and Prenatal Cradle brands of support belts, along with Jeunique Natal Support and Postpartum panties.
Jeunique says, "Vulvar varicosities can occur for many reasons. Increased weight of the enlarged uterus sometimes creates pressure on veins in the pelvic area and interferes with blood returning from the legs. At the same time, naturally higher levels of estrogen promote growth, while increased progesterone tends to relax the smooth muscles of the vein walls. Coupled with greater blood volume, the "relaxed" veins can become distended and "pop out" as vulvar varicosities. Standing for long periods can worsen this condition." Also, "As the baby becomes large and heavy in the fluid sac, it pulls downward and forward, putting strain on the lower abdomen, lower back, and the groin area. To help relieve the straining muscles, a woman naturally clasps her hands under her abdomen and with tension at the wrists, distributes the weight burden between her elbows and shoulders." Many physicians recommend support braces, and/or hosiery to help reduce these problems.
Swimwear
For those wishing to exercise or just cool off in a pool, I carry several selections of maternity swimwear and swim hats.
Nursing
Nursing bras, gowns, cream, breast pumps, and more are also available. I carry the Medela brand of nursing bra which is the only bra designed for hands-free double pumping. Each cup size adjusts to three positions to accommodate changing breast fullness, while a special inner cup surrounds the breast giving much needed support. Take the guesswork out of choosing a nursing bra. I am certified to fit you perfectly!
I carry several breast pump styles to fit your needs. First is the economical, three-in-one piston pump system designed for the convenient expression, storage, and feeding all-in-one container. Next is the deluxe all-in-one AC and/or battery operated breast pump with the unique nipple adapter/stimulator which ensures maximum comfort and lactation. Finally, the advanced AC/battery operated breast pump with the same features as the deluxe pump, but with a separate AC adaptor.
Also available is the Natural Embrace from the Prenatal Cradle brand. This is a swaddling cradle which allows you to hold your baby against you, while keeping your arms free for improved mobility. This wonderful cuddler helps you hold your baby and still continue to shop, do housework, or work on a business proposal! It adjusts so you can continue to use it from the newborn stage up to a 30 pound child!
Preemie
For those babies that join us prematurely, click on the links to find a line of items that parents need but have difficulty finding. A company called Preemie-Yums specializes in actual preemie-sized items that fit, not swallow your little one. There is the special Dr. Brown's 2 oz. preemie nurser bottle which attaches to all standard breast pumps and clearly show ounce markings for accurate monitoring - (Find at Target) The "Wee Thumbie" preemie pacifier is modeled after the preemie thumb! Tiny diapers such as WeePee and Pampers are made specifically for preemies. Pampers' Preemie Center and Philips Children's Medical Ventures sites are full of information.
